Aphelions

The Aphelions are strange, unknown, and dark. They’ve never been seen, but their every action rattles the world. They inhabit the moon of the 10th World of Varc. They’ve lived there for an unknown amount of time, perhaps eons. They stayed undisturbed and undiscovered until Varc sent a spacecraft, Jerical XI, to the moon. Then they awoke. With swift action and unprecedented force they struck, wordlessly declaring war on the world. Varc returned fire, boasted strength, but the Aphelions’ complete power was overwhelming. Now there stands a power, unlike anything else in the universe, that threatens whole civilizations. But will it stop with one planet, or is this just the beginning of an age of eradication?

Aphelion Sci-fi-Art-Eric-Spray-Giant-MechThe Aphelions were undiscovered until Jerical XI awoke them. They destroyed the spacecraft, killing the pilots, then launched an attack against the planet of Varc. It seems they were just waiting for something to come, something to give them reason to fight, and when that something came they struck with relentless ferocity. A whole armada of warships traveled to Varc, crossing the distance in mere hours. The first Aphelian structure to land on Varc was the Domination. Sometimes called the Continental, this massive warship covers miles in length, and is just as tall. It’s thought to be some headquarters of sorts, and it’s firepower is unparalleled. Along with Domination came Titranum, a city-sized mecha that tramples buildings underfoot. Thousands of alien warships and mechas attacked the world, turning a whole continent into a war zone.

The people of Varc struggled against the onslaught of power, and all seemed hopeless. But they recovered, launched a counter offensive, and now both sides seem evenly matched. But the Aphelions intimidatingly strike fear into their hearts. The scariest thing about the Aphelions is how little is known about them. They attacked suddenly, as if provoked, but their intelligence degrades their instinct for such things. They say nothing, and refuse to reveal themselves. They’re a strange mystery, a dangerous one. But the most frightening and unknown thing about them is what they might do, could do, and will do.
