Psycho

“I don’t know what I am besides a monster. At least the ‘good guys’ are the ones holding my leash.”

~Psycho

A young man named Elijah awoke with memory issues and a craving for violence. Chasing down glimpses of a past life, he eventually ran into the Archer during a hunt for the S.K.U.L.L. organization. Recognizing Eli’s latent abilities as well as his passion, Archer recruited the teen for field work on behalf of the A.R.C.H.E.R.S. Association. While Eli’s eventual diagnosis of psychopathy put strain on all personal and profession relationships, he nevertheless dedicated himself to the creation of a safer world while tracking down those responsible for his condition

Background

Awaking in an alleyway with no memory, a frantic and confused young man struggled to recall even the smallest personal details about himself. Stumbling through the streets and experiencing several hallucinations over the course of the next several days, he eventually figured out that he was having flashbacks to a life he couldn’t remember. Deciding to pull himself off the streets and begin investigating his past, the man adopted the name Elijah and began working odd jobs on the street to earn pocket change.

After a particularly vivid flashback, Eli tracked his past to a mountainside hideout–this hideout was District 04, an active bunker in use by the S.K.U.L.L. organization. Managing to sneak his way in, Elijah’s search for answers proved to be vain, but he’d arrived just in time to witness a governmental asset named Archer disrupt S.K.U.L.L.’s activities during his foray.

With questions mounting (and District 04 collapsing into chaos), Elijah continued his search on the streets, monitoring Bluebird Pharmaceuticals and their connection to S.K.U.L.L. While staking out, Eli once again ran into the Archer.

This time, Archer noticed the teen. Intrigued, A.R.C.H.E.R.S. began consensually monitoring Eli as he demonstrated his impeccable intellect and memory recollection abilities. Most A.R.C.H.E.R.S. agents dismissed Eli’s powers as a fluke; a lucky strain of genetics, perhaps, coupled with past experiences that made him prone to remembering.

The Archer

But Archer suspected something more.

After Eli provided fascinating insight into an assignment regarding S.K.U.L.L., he agreed to undergo medical examinations, which is when doctors and Professor Sanderson concluded that Eli had undergone intense neural restructuring through both surgery and chemical tampering. The results were a nearly perfect short-term memory, with previously unseen powers of informational storage and recollection, but it came at the cost of his inability to recall old memories–or even form them. After another several months, Eli’s memories of the previous year began to fade, revealing just what kind of shape his brain was in.

What many soon discovered on top of the memory issues, however, is that high-stress and emotional situations often sent Eli into an uncontrollable psychotic craze. While crazed, Eli showed a propensity towards extreme violence and couldn’t distinguish friend from foe. This earned Eli his signature codename: Psycho–a gutless brand on a struggling boy.

Determined to find a cure for his illness, Eli opted to join the A.R.C.H.E.R.S. Association as a field agent to pursue a personal vendetta against S.K.U.L.L. (presumably the exact medical tinkerers that had displaced Eli’s memory in the first place). Archer was hesitant, especially given Eli’s condition, but prompting from Agent Sylva eventually turned Archer’s mind. Agent Sylva was charged as Elijah’s supervisor, and the two began an on-again off-again personal relationship. Elijah eventually mastered a variety of calming techniques to keep himself cool-headed during high-stress situations, which proved necessary to his improvement as an agent and a person as he continued his work.
