Saron

Saron is the 52nd World of the TimberW0lf Universe. It exists in its own reality, outside of the universe, and is consequently an Outlying World. The Ether and Nether have a strong presence and influence on this world. Its surface ranges from frost fields to monstrous mountains to raging rivers. Many races dwell in Saron, but as peace struggles to exist, conflict fights to emerge.

In the center of Saron stands the Creator’s Mountain, a peak towering miles high dedicated to God. Around the Mountain are the Ten Realms of Saron, territories divided according to decisions made too long ago to remember. Fields, mountains, rivers, valleys, hills, craters, all exist in various places somewhere on Saron. But what is probably the world’s most unique sights are the Skylands, several massive floating islands hovering miles above the surface. Saron’s geography is heavily influenced by its past, a brief but fascinating subject.

Races

  • HUMANS Saron is one of the few alien worlds with actual humans living there. This is likely due to Saron being an Outlying World, for many Outlying Worlds are known to have humans. There is no human government on Saron as the Cronozears are stewards to the race. There are, however, deacons who go to the Cronozears should a problem arise in human society.
  • CRONOZEARS The Cronozears are the descendants of Crono. The Cronozears are divided into twelve different tribes, each tribe made in their own likeness. Most Cronozears retain the ability to speak telepathically. The Cronozears are also world travelers, and they catalog worlds when not stewarding the humans.
  • ARCHANGELS The Archangels are the descendants of Lukas the Seraph. The Archangels inhabit the Skylands and make up the Archangel Empire. The Archangels are tasked with protecting the races of Saron and maintaining order.
  • TEMWOLVERI The Temwovleri (Temwovleris is singular, Temweolveri is plural), more commonly called the Chasers, are refugees from a fallen nation. They were once a formidable and majestic people, but after their cities crumbled they fled to the Ten Realms seeking shelter. Most live on the streets, trying desperately to rebuild their fallen nation and regain their honor.
  • EXDEVA The Exdeva are typically not counted as a race of Saron. They are the brothers and sisters of the Archangels, themselves being fallen angels. These are the Archangels who rebelled with Lukas and were cast into Ralakade with him to rot. They are filthy and degraded, and most try not to think about them.

History

According to the Manuscript this is how the 52nd World of Saron came to be.

God, the Creator, formed the sky and the land. He decided the created beings to govern this world, and so from the sky He formed Lukas, and gave him the title Seraph, and from the earth He formed Crono, and gave him the task of knowledge bearer. The brothers Crono and Lukas watched as the Creator formed the rest of Saron, its seas and mountains and forests and rivers. God made a might mountain, mightier than any before it, and said to the brothers “Here is where you will live. Cultivate the land and raise your children to love this land that this world may become populated.” And it was so. Crono built his house at the foot of the mighty mountain, and Lukas built his house on the peak of the mighty mountain. Crono called it the Creator’s Mountain, and dedicated it to his God. Then God made man on the face of the world, and said to the brothers “This is my people. Crono, steward unto them; Lukas, defend them.” And it was so.

At this time Shasta came to be. She gave birth to the Temwovleri, and a great nation arose from her people. Shasta’s daughters built the city of Temwar, a great city, and the Temwovleri gained favor in the eyes of those of Saron.

Humanity multiplied upon Saron, and it became known to the brothers that they couldn’t serve humanity alone. And so Crono and Lukas gave birth to children to help them. Crono gave birth to twelve sons, each different in his own way, and each son helped their father steward unto humanity. Lukas gave birth to two children, a son named Seethes and a daughter named Golgotha. Crono’s children and Lukas’ children gave birth, and so two peoples were born. Crono’s children became known as the Cronozears, and Lukas’ children became known as the Archangels.

And then a terrible thing happened.

Lukas stood mightily on the peak of the Mountain, but a darkness corrupted him. Lukas became filled with hate and anger toward God, and he rebelled against the Creator. Lukas and the first three generations of his children broke into the Heavens and fought to overthrow God. But upon reaching the throne room of God Lukas was blinded, and him and his lot were cast back to the world. Lukas collided with the Creator’s Mountain, and its top shattered. The Mountain’s top fell toward the ground, but God had mercy. He streched out his hand and the rocks ceased to fall. They fell neither up nor down, and so they stood, suspended in the sky. Then God cast Lukas away. He and his rebellious lot were cast into Ralakade, the Prison Realm, buried beneath Saron. And there Lukas stayed. This event became called the Rebellion.

Crono and his sons and humanity and the Temwolveri were witnesses to Lukas’ Rebellion, and with the sight of sin darkness entered their hearts. Sin entered the World of Saron.

After the Rebellion came the Restoration Age. Saron began to heal from Lukas’ Rebellion and peace came to settle over the world. But with Lukas’ exile came a curse. The Grasslands outside the Ten Realms gradually began to dry, and soon sod turned to sand. The Temwolveri city of Temwar crumbled, buildings turned to dust and rivers to ravines. The Temwolveri, forced to abandon their land, slowly began to make their way across the drying fields toward the Ten Realms. This trek would come to be called the Great Migration (or the Great Wolf Caravan, as the Temwolveri called it).

The Temwolveri did not find compassion in the hearts of the humans. They were cast out onto the streets, forced to beggary. In response to this many Temwolveri groups became freedom fighters, or otherwise opposed the humans in what way they could. A group called the Chasers began to assassinate people of power to show their contempt. They became the most famous Temwolveri extremists, and soon all Temwolveri came to be called Chasers. Another group, the Red Eye, did similar things. And so a division grew between the citizens of the Ten Realms and the Temwolveri.

This is the way it was, more or less, for the next four-hundred-years.

Seethes, the first son of Lukas, rallied a band of rebels to retake Saron for the sake of revenge for Lukas. These rebels, the Sect of Shadows, were eventually silence, though not before they had caused a significant amount of damage.

After one-hundred-eighty-years of peace a man entered the throne room of the Archangel king. His name was Ares, and he persuaded the king of the Archangels to wage a war against God. Ares began a war against God and the citizens of Saron. This would come to be called the Great War.

The Archangels fought both the humans and the Cronozears for the purpose of hurting God, and in hopes of afterwards entering the Heavens to overthrow God. Many notable battles such as those of River Mock, Oawa, and the Southwestern Plain of Death took place. Six million deaths occurred during the Great War.

After the Great War the people of Saron struggled to come back. They never regained their former glory.

The Temwolveri began a war, the Betrayal War, twelve years after the end of the Great War. They further wrecked their reputation, but were, afterwards, allowed to settle among the humans and Cronozears. They gained their freedom and social independence, finally becoming an accepted people in the world of Saron. They built a new capital, Temlar, in the north of Saron.

Geography

Saron’s main country is the Ten Realms, a, country if you will, divided into ten unique territories. Each territory is stewarded by a different tribe of Cronozears. All of these realms work in unison to form the Ten Realms, the great country of Saron.

The Territory/Realm of Fire

The Realm of Fire is known for their army and unique culture. Their capital, Matrin, has a reputation as one of the greatest cities in Saron. It has, however, degraded over the years, becoming a shiny exterior with rotting insides. The Chasers vandalize buildings often, and Matrin is one of the central bases of the slave trade industry. The strange flare trees in the Realm of Fire are fiercely territorial, never allowing any foreign plants to survive on their soil.

The Territory/Realm of Earth

Though Terra Urbus is the capital of the Earth Realm, the city of Zame-Zon is many times bigger. The Copius Fields provide an abundant harvest for not only the Earth Realm but the surrounding territories as well. The mysterious Fields of Incorpia seem cursed, desolate as the Outlands.

The Territory/Realm of Technological-Stone

The Territory of Technological-Stone is the center of innovation in Saron. Here you will find tinkerers and inventors. Outside of Hadgarn lay the Clay Caverns, were ores and minerals and, yes, clay, are harvested. The Golden Plains are a fertile area of the realm, producing many crops.

The Territory/Realm of Death

There isn’t much in the Territory of Death. The Skyland of Death hangs low. The River Mock marks the division of the north from the Territory of Technological-Stone. The Great Graveyard is an eternal scar and reminder of the last battle of the Great War.

The Territory/Realm of Death, North and South Side

The Territory of Darkness is the largest realm in Saron. The most notable landmarks are the Dragon’s Jaws, the Viper’s Fangs, and the North Fields. South of the Southwestern Wall, a chain of mountains, lays the Southern Sand Ocean, a dried up sea that once fed the surrounding forests. Those forests are now dry. The capital, Seth, is one of, if not the largest city in Saron. Seth was once the site of the Serpentyr political conflict, which would eventually evolve into the Serpentyr Wars.

The Territory/Realm of Water

The Territory of Water is almost entirely, well… water. The Sea of Saron is the largest body of water in the world. The island in the middle of the sea is where the capital of Saberr lies. The Ocean of Fire Light, to the south, is another dried sea. The Forest of Exiles, to the west, is said to hold thieves and outlaws. The cities of Dalport and Sonport are both the largest port cities in Saron.
